Topman Design’s Menswear Collection for Summer/Spring 2013

Topman Design’s collection brought some sun to rainy London with Gordon Richardson offering menswear for Spring/Summer 2013. I’d call the whole collection the brightest from menswear that I’ve seen for this season. The vibrant, light hues with a punchy mood looked amazing on the show. I am sure with that collection streets are going to become a catwalk soon.

Topman Design SS 2013

Shirts, trousers and a raincoat in floral theme, sunny yellow, green, blue and even fuchsia colors were offered with the neoprene shorts, cut unusually lower in comparison with the traditional length of shorts. Sporty flavor has been added to the collection by Topman Design’s basketball gear presented and it was as bright as I’d never expect sports clothes to be, in a good way.

There were also colorful gargantuan rucksacks inspired by an American graffiti artist Jean-Michel Basquiat; London’s East End also took some space in the mood board of Topman Design’s studio. The footwear was cut out for natural air-conditioning purposes, worn with socks at the show. Unexpected element like knitted headgear appeared later, which could be worn in the middle of August to my mind, because you know what kind of summers Britain used to have.

The whole collection could be called as skate-inspired collection, with the breeze of 90′es in California. Accessories such as beanies and skateboards served as a perfect combination to the outfits offered.

Some of us really don’t like to wear a three-piece suit unless we are pushed to, I bet, most of us just feel much more comfortable in casual gear. London has provided an influental inspiration within casual menswear, along with the Topman Design many innovative young designers came through to challenge the status quo. This season Astrid Andersen and Shaun Samson have made casual wear as well. This kind of skate style inspiration is becoming a huge part of London’s new movements reflected by outfits.
